Summary

Ben Joe Hawkes comes from a fairly large, blindly cheerful family that never seems to know when to get upset. Raised by women- a proud mother, an incorrigible grandmother, and a flock of busy sisters-Ben Joe has always been an outsider of sorts, and a chronic worrier. In New York, as a law student, he's not quite sure what his role should be. So, when his eldest sister returns home to North Carolina with her baby girl, he decides it's time to figure himself out by doing what he does best. He heads home to take care of his family. But what if the women he's left behind don't need him as much as he needs them?
