Summary
On April 9, 1917, a corps of Canadian soldiers captured Vimy Ridge from the Germans. This marked the first time that Canadians had fought as an independent force, and not as part of the British Army. The battle cost the lives of 5000 Canadian soldiers. This production commemorates that battle. War Amps member Perce Lemmon, who was nineteen when he fought at the ridge, joins Cliff Chadderton at the Canadian War Museum to describe what it was like to be a young soldier fighting in the trenches.
