Depression affects around 6% of us every year. Depression has a significant impact on the way someone feels, causing a persistent 'low' mood which can have a serious affect on their ability to carry on their everyday . Depression is treatable. After diagnosis by a doctor, the most effective treatment is often psychological therapy. Antidepressant medication may also be prescribed when necessary. With treatment, the symptoms can be successfully managed or even eliminated, so that those affected can get on with their lives again. This ?Speaking from Experience? program features first-hand accounts from people living with depression and some of the people who support them. They share the impact it has had on their lives and the way they manage it. It was produced in partnership with the Mental Health Association of San Francisco
