Summary
Against the backdrop of San Francisco's Day of the Dead, the arduous, and at times ecstatic, process of grieving is revealed in the stories of four people. People in the film: Marcia Fields: drawing strengths from Buddhism and other spiritual beliefs, Marcia experiences some amusing synchronicities and powerful life lessons following Rick's death. Geoff Fiorito: first his mother is diagnosed with cancer, then his father commits suicide, then after a short remission his mother dies. An only child, he finds healing and reassurance through a memorial film and a series of dreams. Gladys Lopez: both friend and church associate, she assists Tighe when his own family abandons him to AIDS. Missing the moment of his death, she navigates her grief by honoring some special last wishes. Dan scharlin: a no-nonsense guy with pragmatic views on death, he gets caught up in the mystery of his wife's dying and some curious experiences that happen in its wake
