Summary
Overpopulation is the overwhelming global threat in agriculture, particularly in developing countries. Predictions are that by 2025 the world will have added two billion peopleequivalent to the total population of India and China today! How do we feed this growing mass of humanity? In Sub-Saharan Africa, where population growth rate is highest, the International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC) has begun to educate farmers on how to increase food production by integrating modern fertilizers with readily available organic matter. Simple, yet innovative techniques of fertilizer application and soil husbandry are showing promise for an entire region on the verge of loosing hope. Filmed on location in Togo, Bangladesh, and Albania, "To Inherit the Earth" is a comprehensive view of how practice and policy can come together to help save our soil, and thus our future. Excellent viewing for students of agriculture, international development, African studies, rural ecology, and the environment
